Town and Country Public Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Town and Country Public Library in Elburn sponsor a book sale during Elburn Days.

Date: August 15 and 16
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday
Location: 320 East North Street, Elburn

Book costs will be $1 for adult hard covers and 50 cents for paperbacks. Children’s hard covers will be 50 cents and paperbacks will be 25 cents. All videos will be $1 and audio books will be $2 each. There will be some specially priced selections.

On Saturday, August 16th, the Bag of Books sale begins at 12 noon. Bags of books will be sold for $3 each or 2 for $5 and may be filled with your choice of items remaining at that time, excluding specially priced items.

All proceeds benefit the adult and youth collections and programs of the library. The Friends of the Town and Country Public Library is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization of volunteers who support the library with programs and services with fundraisers. Garden Walk in the Country

The Friends of the Hinckley Public Library are sponsoring their 2nd Garden Walk in the Country on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Beat the heat and come early. Tickets may be ordered by mail at Hinckley Public Library, 100 N Maple St., Hinckley, Illinois 60520 for $10 each ($15 after July 10). Door prizes will be given, and refreshments served. Friends Group Involved in National Library Week

National Library Week will kick off at Helen M. Plum Memorial Library this year with prize baskets donated by the Friends of the Library group. The theme for this year's celebration (April 13 - April 19) is Join the Circle of Knowledge. To compliment this theme, the library is inviting patrons to follow a circular path through the library and complete a survey about what they learned on their tour. Finished surveys can be entered into a drawing for fifteen different prize baskets containing books, DVDs, toys, books on tape, and even an iTunes gift card. Free Public Service Announcements Available

Friends of Libraries U.S.A. (FOLUSA) is offering two Public Service Announcements (PSAs) created by Paula Poundstone in partnership with FOLUSA. You can see the 30-second version on FOLUSA's website with more information.

In addition, visit FOLUSA on YouTube.

Production quality copies will be made available at cost for Friends to purchase and distribute to TV stations in their community for local promotion of Friends groups. More information, when available, will be posted on the FOLUSA website.

To change the size of the video box as it will appear on your screen, change the values in the "width" and "height" within the coding above by scaling these numbers as a percentage of the original. For example, to make the box 75% of the original size use a width of 318 and a height of 266. Do not to go too small or it will be hard to view the video.
